Chapter 1066: Evening Star Arc – Rising to Become a Phoenix
In the upscale Western restaurant, Stella Charlie sat somewhat tense across from Vincent Warner."...You suddenly called me, is there something you want to tell me?"
Vincent paused his motion of lifting the water glass, took a sip before answering: "No, just happened to pass by and saw you."
Stella pursed her lips in silence for a moment and said, "I bought some materials for school. I might need a bit more time to pay you back."
"Hmm, do you still have enough money?"
Stella quickly nodded.
"I said there’s no rush to pay back my money. Just ask if you need more. Once you graduate, come work at my company; I’ll deduct it from your salary then."
Stella smiled sheepishly and said, "That’ll take several years. I can earn some money doing part-time work, I’ll slowly pay you back when I have extra cash."
Vincent: "If you’re afraid of forgetting, you can get a notebook to keep track of your expenses. School has many costs, and it’s not really the time for you to make money. Don’t let earning a little part-time money delay your studies. I won’t pressure you to repay."
Stella nodded obediently and said, "I know, I only work when I have free time, it won’t delay my studies."
"That’s good. Are you getting used to living at school?"
Stella thought of her isolated situation and her expression slightly stiffened, then she maintained a smile and replied, "I’m used to it."
Vincent nodded. After the food was served, he didn’t say anything else, quietly focusing on eating.
Stella initially wanted to ask what he’d been busy with lately, and whether it was tiring.
But the words reached her lips, and she felt that asking would be a bit intrusive.
Their relationship wasn’t close enough for mutual concern.
After lunch, Vincent automatically parked the car at the intersection where Stella had gotten off last time.
Afraid of being discovered, Stella got out of the car and quickly headed towards the school without looking back.
After the afternoon class ended, Stella picked up a shared bike by the roadside and rode to the Western restaurant where she had lunch.
Because she noticed the restaurant was hiring part-time workers. At noon, she didn’t dare ask because Vincent was there.
Having experience working in a café, the job here also seemed manageable.
She only overlooked one thing: the restaurant wasn’t far from the school, so many students came here to eat frequently.
Yvonne Quincy spread rumors about her all over the school; now everyone thought she was a vain, greedy, boyfriend-stealing woman.
While serving tea to another table, Stella overheard the girl at the adjacent table on the phone saying, "Xiaomeng, come quickly, guess who we saw here?"
The girl deliberately raised her voice while her gaze fell on Stella, clearly speaking for Stella to hear.
"Our Classmate Charlie is truly hardworking and diligent, working whenever she has time. She’s an example we should learn from~"
"You might not know, to come to such a high-end restaurant, you need some financial capability. She seems to come for work, but actually, she’s waiting for a chance to jump to wealth. She’s clever!"
Stella pretended not to hear and left with the tray after setting down the tea.
But turning around, she saw Vincent and a group of men in suits walking in from the entrance.
Stella stood frozen with the tray, while Vincent also paused slightly upon seeing her work uniform.
