Chapter 48 Wanting to Send a Gift
Chapter 48 Wanting to Send a Gift
Humans are visual creatures. Even though she had seen so many good-looking people in the entertainment industry, Kim Tae-yeon still felt that Kang Woo-jin had a face that fit the aesthetic standards of the entertainment industry. He was tall, had a gentle temperament, but was a little shy.
Amidst the teasing and joking around, Kim Tae-yeon didn't even realize when she had arrived there. When she came to her senses, she found Kang Woo-jin standing in front of her with a slightly flushed face.
In fact...
He didn't move at all, but when he saw the girl staring intently at him, he couldn't help but blush.
Jiang Youzhen was still carrying a bag. Because of this gaze, he subconsciously tightened his grip on the rope, feeling a tightness in his throat. He struggled to speak.
"I timed it perfectly, I knew you'd come out now... This is something I brought back from Denmark."
Hearing the sound, Kim Tae-yeon realized that they were at the back door of the company. More importantly, there might be someone inside the company watching them!
With a burst of strength she didn't know she possessed, Kim Tae-yeon pushed Kang Woo-jin into the car, while whispering a reminder to him, "Anders, the company's been really strict with us lately. It's probably best if you don't show up here. Besides, you're an artist, so you're likely to be followed by paparazzi. I haven't debuted yet, so it doesn't matter to me, but you still have activities to do, and you can't afford to get yelled at."
Jiang Youzhen pointed at himself in astonishment. He was going to be scolded?
"No, Taeyeon, huh? But I just wanted to see you."
These gentle words, as soothing as a spring breeze, made Kim Tae-yeon blush. She opened the driver's side door, gesturing for Kang Woo-jin to get in. "I saw it, you can go back first. We'll contact each other by phone."
"Hey hey hey? Well, remember to take your things with you. I... okay, contact me by phone." Jiang Youzhen was quite annoyed, but the girl's gaze was somewhat firm, so he had no choice but to give up.
After handing her the bag, he adjusted his baseball cap and nodded, saying, "I'm off then. Oh, by the way, there's chocolate in the bag. Eat some to replenish your sugar levels during practice."
Kang Woo-jin was somewhat aware of whether he was being followed. After all, in a place like New York, someone would follow you almost every day, either to rob you of your money or watch, or to bully you because he had Asian features.
He made a point of checking his surroundings before leaving today, and there were no paparazzi following him, nor was anyone paying attention to the area.
Apart from... those few girls who were huddled together watching the commotion from the back door of SM.
Feeling extremely uncomfortable being stared at by these people with eyes that seemed to be watching a gossip stunt, Jiang Youzhen gave them an awkward smile and nodded. But the next second, he heard them teasing him.
It seemed to make him even more uncomfortable...
Kim Tae-yeon accepted the bag. She looked around, her gaze lingering for a moment on the windows of the company building. She was genuinely afraid that someone might suddenly appear from one of the windows and discover them.
The highly anticipated meeting ended abruptly, with hardly any words exchanged.
Jiang Youzhen drove the car to the corner and watched the girl and her friends walk away. He felt a little disappointed, but considering what he had said before, he quickly accepted the fact.
As Kim Tae-yeon walked away, she felt the oppressive feeling from the company disappear. She had a feeling that someone in the company might have seen them and also seen Kang Woo-jin.
She felt her body relax, but before she could even catch her breath, someone came over to her.
"Taeyeon, what gift did your Hollywood seniors give you?"
"There's definitely perfume in it, I can smell it."
"There are also desserts, I see, lots of boxes of chocolates."
In just a few words, the group surrounded Kim Tae-yeon, but they waited patiently for her to look at the bag of gifts.
They had just arrived at the small restaurant where they were having dinner. Yoona was in charge of ordering, while her eyes kept glancing at Tae-yeon.
The bag was quite heavy; Kim Tae-yeon felt her arms getting tired after carrying it the whole way. Under the curious gazes of the others, she still opened it.
On top was a double-layered chocolate box, along with some baked goods. In the middle was a Hermes scarf, and below were perfumes, aromatherapy products, cosmetics, and skincare items from high-end brands. In the corner were some postcards and souvenirs.
No wonder it's so heavy.
The gift from the Hollywood veteran was both exquisite and thoughtful, and everyone else subconsciously started making a fuss again.
Kim Tae-yeon felt that, apart from the food, she probably didn't need anything else right now.
Thinking of her dwindling wallet, she sighed helplessly, realizing she'd have to wait until later to buy a return gift.
After dinner, the group walked back to the company. On the way, Kim Tae-yeon pulled Tiffany behind her to walk with her, and whispered, "Tiffany, do you think I should prepare some return gifts?"
"A return gift? For whom?" Tiffany was momentarily confused, but after asking, she realized, "Oh~ a Hollywood veteran? You see what he likes."
"..."
This question stumped her.
Kim Tae-yeon blinked blankly, then began to brainstorm the question. In her memory, Kang Woo-jin hadn't shown any particular fondness for anything.
No... there really is one.
"Does coffee... count?"
She could clearly remember that when Jiang Youzhen received that bitter-tasting coffee, his eyes would show a look of enjoyment. She really didn't understand what was so enjoyable about drinking that kind of bitter coffee.
Upon hearing this, Tiffany couldn't help but laugh. "Coffee? Oh, I remember you gave him something last time, didn't you? He didn't like it?"
"No, I see him wearing it every day," Kim Tae-yeon shook her head. She did remember that Kang Woo-jin wore the bracelet she gave him all the time.
"Then you can give her jewelry or something similar, but it's not good to be too obvious, after all, she's a celebrity..." Tiffany felt something was off as soon as she finished speaking. She thought for a while and then had a new suggestion.
"Why don't you buy a bouquet of flowers and send it back?"
Tiffany remembers very clearly whose flowers were in the dorm. Kim Tae-yeon didn't know how to take care of them, but Tiffany always kindly put them in vases.
It's a pity that they've all withered now; it's a bit of a shame.
The girl felt her friend's suggestion was a bit unreliable, but it seemed like there were no other options.
So she decided to ask Kang Woo-jin if he had any favorite things.
At the front of the group, Kwon Yuri and the others listened intently to the conversation between the two. Out of the corner of their eye, they caught a glimpse of Kim Tae-yeon's furrowed brows and couldn't help but want to laugh.
