Chapter 6, Call Me Anders
Chapter 6, Call Me Anders
The taxi stopped at the entrance of an alley. The houses here weren't big, but they were quite nice compared to the local economic conditions.
Mads-Oh and Kang Woo-jin didn't come to visit suddenly. They had contacted Kim's parents beforehand and knew they were home before explaining that they would be visiting today.
After all, they were new friends met in Jeonju. Mads-Wu was very outgoing and enthusiastic, so the Kim family parents did not refuse and even prepared a table of delicious food to entertain their guest.
Kang Woo-jin was ordered by Mads-Oh to go with Kim Ji-yong and Kim Tae-yeon.
At home, the Kim siblings were still wearing their pajamas, while Kang Woo-jin had dressed up specially for the day, holding a bouquet of flowers and looking quite presentable.
Jin Zhiyong was somewhat stunned, most of his attention was on Jiang Youzhen's face, and only after he came to his senses did he notice that he was actually holding flowers in his hand?!
"This is... bought by my father."
Jiang Youzhen pursed his lips, using a stiff voice to cover up his embarrassment, especially when he saw the little girl staring at him with an innocent and curious look. His 'wish fulfilled' feeling instantly plummeted to the bottom.
He seems to be being treated like a weirdo...
But it seemed really strange that he was standing in front of a little girl with a bouquet of flowers in his hand.
Finally, Jiang Youzhen thought for a moment and then stuffed the bouquet of flowers into Jin Zhiyong's arms.
Jin Zhiyong had never received flowers before, especially not from a boy. His small head was filled with a big question mark.
Her mind raced, but she still couldn't understand why Jiang Youzhen would give her such beautiful flowers.
"Eh? Kang Woo-jin, what's this...?"
"I didn't mean anything by it, don't overthink it." Jiang Youzhen was about the same age as Jin Zhiyong, but he was much more mature. After explaining it casually, he went into the room.
"Excuse me, I'm sorry to have to stay here for a while."
This should be Jin Zhiyong's bedroom. There are some cool-style posters on the walls, simple furniture, and a bookshelf next to it, but most of the books on it are comic books. There are also many toys scattered on the floor in the corner of the room.
Simply put, it's a very ordinary boy's room.
Jin Zhiyong seemed still in shock at the bouquet of flowers he had received. The two half-grown children and the tiny child remained silent.
Jin Zhiyong stammered, and finally said he was going to find his mother before running out with the flowers.
Hopefully, he won't say anything in front of his elders that could cause misunderstandings.
As Kang Woo-jin thought this, he looked at Kim Tae-yeon. The little girl's attention was no longer on him; instead, she was gesturing with the building blocks next to her.
Seeing that she had been fiddling with it for a long time but still couldn't put together a complete model, Jiang Youzhen moved his fingers and decided to go over and help her.
...
"Taeyeon-ssi, let me help you."
The little girl didn't refuse and handed over the task of building blocks to him, without feeling upset that her toy had been taken away.
Seeing that Jiang Youzhen was working so hard, she couldn't help but widen her eyes and stare at his face without blinking.
Kang Woo-jin became a little nervous under such obvious gazes, and after glancing at Kim Tae-yeon, his lips tightened.
Why are you looking at me like that?
"Thank you for that cake last time."
"No...it's nothing."
This casual remark relieved Jiang Youzhen; thankfully, she wouldn't ask any strange or unusual questions.
Children are very curious. Kim Tae-yeon stared at Kang Woo-jin for a long time, and when Kang Woo-jin couldn't help but ask her a question, she finally spoke up.
"Why do you have two names? Jiang... Jiang something? An something?"
"It's Kang Woo-jin, and Anders too. You can call me Anders."
The difficult-to-pronounce foreign name was a bit of a challenge for her age, so Jiang Youzhen took a pen and paper from the table in the room, wrote his name on the paper, and taught her to pronounce Anders' name accurately.
"This is the Danish name my dad gave me, and I like it very much. I hope you can remember this name too."
Kim Tae-yeon learned quickly and pronounced accurately, which made Kang Woo-jin quite happy.
Once the blocks were assembled, Jin Zhiyong appeared just in time. He stood at the door, knocked, and reminded them that it was time to go eat.
Mads-Oh seemed to get along very well with the Kim family parents. Although his Korean was a bit broken, communication was not a problem. He told one funny story after another, which made everyone laugh.
During the meal, Jiang Youzhen remained quiet. Compared to his good-looking father, who was not humorous, he was much more reserved.
The conversation between the adults then shifted to the children.
When it comes to children, it's nothing more than academic performance and future plans.
You can't expect a father who's rarely home to talk about anything related to his child's grades, but Mads Wu did mention that his son would be going abroad to study soon.
At such a young age, Kim Tae-yeon didn't know what studying abroad meant. She turned to look at Kang Woo-jin, who then quietly told her that he was going to study at a school abroad.
Over the course of the meal, Mads-Oh's relationship with them improved considerably. Before leaving, Kang Woo-jin handed Kim Tae-yeon a slip of paper with his email address.
I don't expect her to remember. Anyway, I don't know when we'll meet again. If she wants to contact me, she can send me a message through this email address.
But if she really forgets, that's okay too.
Jiang Youzhen knew very well that children don't remember much, and if there was no contact, he might forget about it in the near future.
As he got into the taxi, Jiang Youzhen glanced a few more times at the location in front of the Jin family's house, and at the small figure standing at the door waving at him.
Mads Wu glanced over there and chuckled, teasing, "Anders, how's your acquaintance with that young lady?"
"Dad, instead of nagging me, why don't you go back to the hotel and explain why you reek of alcohol?" Jiang Youzhen reminded him without turning his head.
"I told your mother I was going out to meet a friend today."
"But she didn't make you drink."
.....
After being exposed by his son's words, Mads Wu's face stiffened, and he didn't know what to say.
The taxi drove very fast, and Jiang Youzhen kept a serious look in his eyes the whole time. Only after making sure that the driver was not deliberately taking a detour did he reluctantly look away.
The father and son were caught by Jiang Jingshu as soon as they returned to the hotel. Jiang Youzhen was fine, but Ma Desi Wu suffered because he had been drinking and was nagged by Jiang Jingshu again.
Fortunately, director Kim Bong-hyun arrived at this time and said that the wrap party was scheduled for the evening.
After this meal, the family can return to Seoul.
Jiang Youzhen made an excuse that he needed to study hard and didn't want to attend any wrap party, so he gave all the photos he had developed to Jin Fengxian.
Mads Wu was going to spend time with his son and didn't plan to attend.
At the wrap party that evening, Jiang Jingshu returned very early and brought Jiang Youzhen a late-night snack. There was also an envelope inside the snack bag.
Looking at the envelope, Jiang Youzhen seemed to have a guess about what it contained.
He couldn't think of a second answer besides money.
"That was cash the director gave us at the wrap party. Mom doesn't need it, so I'm giving it to you. Thank you for spending your holiday with me while I was working in Quanzhou," Jiang Jingshu explained.
Jiang Youzhen accepted it; who would complain about having too much money?
Just a few days after the family returned to Seoul, Kang Woo-jin received a contract bonus from Kim Bong-hyun, which was three times higher than the original amount.
What can you buy with 60 Korean won?
It seems he doesn't want to buy anything, and he can't buy much anyway.
Jiang Jingshu didn't try to control Jiang Youzhen's spending. Since it was money he earned himself, she naturally wouldn't interfere. However, after waiting for a long time and not seeing Jiang Youzhen spend the money, she stopped asking.
Jiang Youzhen has always had his own living expenses and rarely spends money outside. He saves most of it or buys fruit for the elderly on weekdays and weekends. In fact, the big expenses he incurs are all paid for by Jiang Jingshu.
That very evening, Jiang Youzhen decided how to use the money. He knew he would definitely need it when he went abroad to study. After careful calculation, he realized that his expenses would be even greater overseas.
After all... his generous mother wouldn't go abroad with him, and relying on his father was less reliable than relying on himself.
