Chapter 1262 - 1261: When Will You Send Red Invitations to the Brothers?
Chapter 1262 - 1261: When Will You Send Red Invitations to the Brothers?
Casimir happily followed Mr. Shaw and Mommy home on leave, unaware that his casual punch to the chubby kid would lead to a series of subsequent events.
Not to mention how the Zane Family was frightened into taking Leo Zane home immediately, sorting out the ordinary families he bullied before and starting apologizing visits the next day, fearing they might provoke the Shaw Family’s displeasure and get themselves killed.
After all, if word got out that they offended the Shaw Family, their days in the Imperial City would be challenging.
Leo Zane had bullied countless classmates over these years, but he had bad luck running into the accelerated Casimir Shaw. Among the noble children in the Imperial City, few were as low-key as the Shaw Family, and the Zane Family always picked soft targets; this time, they found a tough one, it’s been a bitter lesson.
The families who had been bullied by the Zane Family were initially furious, and now seeing them sincerely come to apologize, were stunned, feeling as if the Zanes had gone mad, suspecting they might have stepped on the wrong toes.
The Zane Family had restless days, trembling all week, and only dared to sleep soundly when they saw the Shaw Family didn’t plan to retaliate. However, this event extinguished their arrogance completely; there’s no wall in the world without cracks. Offending the prestigious Shaw Family means their political careers are over; this is a later story.
Since Casimir was not attending classes, and it was still early, Leah took him to a bookstore to look at books, intending to buy some stationery and books. Richard Shaw spent his days leaving his son at the Military District; she thought her son was lively, more like her, and his future might not necessarily follow Richard’s path.
Richard drove them to the most arty bookstore. Since it was a weekday, there weren’t many people, especially few children; Casimir was choosing books he liked and sat down to read with enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, Leah browsed through some aesthetic design and home living books, and impatiently said to the man constantly following her, "Why don’t you go back to the Military District?"
"On leave." Richard said calmly. "If you want to buy books, I’ll get them for you."
His tone was like coaxing a five or six-year-old; even Casimir didn’t fall for it. Luckily, the son wasn’t like him, or he’d be single forever. Leah stifled a giggle, eyes bright and clear, shimmering, and sarcastically said, "As if I can’t afford to buy books myself."
"What I buy you is different." The man said quietly, his gaze soft, watching her browse through home life books, particularly collections of artifacts and design pairings, elegantly, and asked, "The cabin could be renovated like this."
Leah casually responded and asked, "After today’s incident, everyone at school will know Thomas’s identity, right? Will he be transferred later?"
"Transfers are necessary." The man said steadily. "I’ll make arrangements."
"Is the Shaw Family still so low-key?" Leah thought about how Richard Shaw hadn’t revealed his identity today, and truly, being in high positions is challenging. Families like the Zanes bully to the face thinking you’re easily pushed around if you do nothing, but if you act too much, people will say you’re abusing your power.
She had the Zanes apologize, causing a scene; to the public, it seemed to do no harm to the Zane Family, but in reality, since Serena Winton was involved, it was impossible to keep secret. Surely in less than a day, the entire Imperial City would be discussing the matter, as Shaw Family gossip is so rare that one piece can be discussed for days.
This event cuts off the Zanes’ political careers, it’s their own fault; Leah won’t soften. If their positions were swapped, with Richard having no power and Thomas not in Military District training, Thomas would have been the one beaten, with no one to reason with.
If the Zanes can’t discipline their kids, they shouldn’t hold high positions.
Richard knew she was talking about how the issue was handled, nodded, saying, "You handled it well; I always felt you had a knack for this."
His life is like a monk’s, his elderly mother enjoying her retirement years, Casimir is still young, just the three in the Shaw Family, very Zen, nothing worth showcasing, except for flaunting his wife and son. But Leah never acknowledged his identity publicly, so the matter couldn’t be brought to light.
The man recalled when Serena asked if she was Crystal, Leah denied outright, and his gaze deepened. Was she denying her identity or her relationship with him?
The two spent the morning reading at the bookstore and then went for lunch when Casimir picked a few books he wanted. The man paid and then took Leah and their son to have lunch, spending the afternoon shopping for stationery, clothes, and other small items, a delightful family day, unaware of the storm brewing in school and the Imperial City’s elite circles.
Richard deliberately turned off his phone to avoid any unwanted calls interrupting him. Once their shopping was done, he prepared to drive back to the Shaw Mansion for dinner, and only then did he turn his phone on, instantly seeing a dozen missed calls. No calls from the Military District, mostly from the Howard Family and some unfamiliar people.
Richard returned a call to Drake Howard, who picked up instantly, exclaiming, "Oh my god, Shaw, you beat someone up?"
Richard sighed in silence; it was his son who fought, and rumors were getting out of hand.
"Wow, I never imagined this, you, a monk-like man, could have the urge to fight, seems like youth isn’t wasted." Drake teased, slapping his thigh laughing, "Congrats, you’ve dethroned the Lincoln Family’s eldest son’s domestic abuse topic, becoming the latest talk of the town."
"Tell me about it." The man was in a great mood today, seeing Leah and Casimir tallying their shopping in the car, his lips slightly curled, planning to quietly drive back. Once at the Shaw Mansion, Leah would have to come inside.
Drake gossiped for a full five minutes before reluctantly stopping.
Richard got the gist of the outside rumors, vivid in detail, some saying he had an illegitimate child, some saying he had a new love, wounded people because of the new love.
"The truth is, Casimir fought at school. The parents complained to the school; I went with Leah." The man said plainly.
Drake of course knew the outside rumors were unreliable, merely wanted to tease Richard with it, as Richard’s gossip, truly rare in a lifetime! Yet, why did he sense some prideful delight in Richard’s tone?
"You went with Leah Squire?" Drake never asked if Leah Squire was Crystal, since the Shaw Family never mentioned it, Howard Family knew internally.
Alaric Howard smiled and asked, "Good news coming? When are you sending wedding invitations to your buddies?"
